Obituary of Helen Holmes

I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous judge shall give me at that say: and not to me only, but to all them that love his appearing. II Timothy 4:7-8 Helen Holmes, oldest daughter of the late Revelation and Frances Holmes was born July 13, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY. After a long battle of heart disease Helen departed this life slipping into the arms of God on Friday, May 26, 23017. Helen received her early education in the Brooklyn School System and later attended high school in Lakeview, N.Y. where she graduated. Helen was employed at Mercy Hospital, Rockville Center, NY in the Dietary Department. She later began working at the Hempstead Motor Inn, West Hempstead, NY and continued a long career at the Uniondale Marriott Hotel, Uniondale, NY where she retired after being employed there for 20 years. Helen, not one to stay at home, returned to the workforce where she worked in the Roosevelt School System part-time in the Dietary Department. During the early eighties, Helen joined the Faith Baptist Church under the Pastorate of the late Rev. Joseph J. Howell, Sr.; she was a member of the Sanctuary Mass Choir; but Helen's desire to serve went beyond singing in the choir. Helen joined the Usher Ministry where she served with passion and a warm smile. Once Helen's health began to fail she became an Honorary Usher. Helen enjoyed the simple things such as cooking and spending time with her family, she loved Gospel music and attending church. Helen leaves to cherish her loving memory four children Paul, Barbara, Ronald and Mark Holmes, four grandchildren Darlene, Derrick, Nicole Felder and Marshay Holmes, seven great-grandchildren, one brother Hardy, two sisters, Margaret and Florence and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and her Faith Baptist Church Family.
