Please share a memory of Sandra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sandra Lee Holmes was born March 6, 1947 in East Meadow, NY. She was the oldest of five children from the union of the late William and Jannie Richardson. Sandra was born and raised in Roosevelt, Long Island where she attended Roosevelt High School. On August 13, 1969, Sandra and the late Gary Holmes were joined in holy matrimony. She accomplished one of her educational goals and went on to pursue a degree in accounting at Adelphi University. Sandra was academically sound when it came to numbers. She worked at numerous prestigious accounting firms; AON was one to name a few. Finally, Sandra went on to retire in 2012.
One of her lifetime dreams was to become a homeowner, and she did just that by purchasing a Condominium in Amityville, NY where she resided for over 20 years with her beloved Shih Tzu, "Bud." Sandra was an active member of Bethel AME Church, Freeport, NY. She loved children, enjoyed teaching Sunday Preschool for 10 years and was always faithful in her assignments. She committed herself to numerous community organizations including "Have Pots Will Cook Ministry" where she assisted with the Senior Program. As a member of the Stewardess Board #4, Sandra embraced her church activities with passion.
Reading was one of Sandra's most favorite past times; she was considered by most to be a "Book Worm". Sandra loved reading, and her favorite author was the mystery/thriller author James Patterson. She was the owner of a very large collection of books!!! Sandra enjoyed traveling and seeing the world was important to her. She visited Africa, Hawaii, and many Caribbean Islands. Sandra attended movies, live theatre and loved to exercise. She was a member of the Kennedy Park Athletic Fitness Program and everyone who knew Sandra knew she believed in staying in shape and being fit.
Sandra was an elegant and classy fashionista. Sandra was always exquisitely dressed, well-groomed and a woman of distinction. When she walked into a room, you could not help but to notice.
Sandra will be missed by all of her friends, family and colleagues. She was a loving and devoted sister, auntie and friend who was always there for her family. Her memory will live in our hearts and lives for many years to come. She leaves to cherish her memory siblings; Larry Richardson and his wife Patricia, Denise Swint, Gary Richardson, her aunt Isabelle R. Jefferson of Brooklyn, New York, her uncle James Smalls of Seabrook, South Carolina, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, God- children, family and friends.
