Obituary of Judith M Sinclair
Please share a memory of Judith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our Beloved Judith Marie Symes-Sinclair was born September 19, 1962 in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Genevieve and Nathan Symes. Judy, as she was affectionately called, was the sixth of seven children. Her family lived in Roosevelt, Long Island where she attended the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary School and Roosevelt Junior/Senior High School. She and her family attended the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church (QMHR). Here Judy gave her heart to the LORD while attending the Antioch Youth Group and realized what would be her life-long career as she served as a Sunday School teacher and a church youth counselor.
On December 19, 1998, Judy married the Love of her life, Osman Sinclair. Osman and Judy enjoyed life together living it to the fullest! They adored each other's company, traveling extensively, enjoying concerts and Broadway shows, and various other activities. Osman and Judy served their church, their families and their community in many different ways. Their kind and loving hearts caused them to open their home to many throughout the years. They had the joy of raising two foster daughters, Shanaa and Equayja and helped to raise many nieces and nephews.
Judy attended SUNY College at Old Westbury, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Special Education/Early Childhood Education; New York Institute of Technology, where she earned a Master of Science in Educational/Instructional Technology, and The College of New Rochelle, where she earned a second Master of Science in School Administration and Supervision.
From a young age, Judy was very active within her community, participating in the local church Vacation Bible School. Family, teaching, children, and community were always amongst her passions! In 1986, Judy returned to her Alma Mater, the Roosevelt School District and served for over 32 years as a beloved educator, where she faithfully served until her passing. The majority of those years she spent as a teacher at Ulysses Byas Elementary School. Judy's care for children extended far beyond the school setting. She shared her love for travel with them, including them on trips - far and near.
Judy's brother Vernon whom she loved and adored, said "she was a Sweet, baby sister – Loving and Caring!!". Family and friends agree that Judy had a HUGE heart and always looked at the positive side of things, no matter what!!
She was a devoted member and served throughout the years with the families of QMHR, Memorial Presbyterian, Upper Room churches, and was presently a member of Gospel Lighthouse Assembly of Roosevelt.
Judy loved and served the LORD with her whole Heart!!! On April 18, 2019 after a prolonged illness, our precious Lord called Judy home.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Genevieve; brothers, Nathan Jr. and James and sister, Sandra.
Judy leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband Osman; daughters, Shanaa and Equayja ; grandchildren Amyah and Ronelle; sister, Gwendolyn; brothers Vernon (Jacqueline), Arthur (Netha) and Teddy; sisters-in-law, Myrna, Comelle, Janet, Pamela, Patricia and Anna; brother-in-law, Richard; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, co-workers and friends!
