Obituary of Ivy L. Blagrove

IVY LOUISE BLAGROVE, age 91 years, of Westbury, NY passed away on Friday, January 31, 2020. Ivy was born on April 5, 1928 in St. James, Jamaica W.I. and grew up in Cambridge and Montego Bay. She was the wife of the late Aaron Blagrove; daughter of John Mowatt and Estella Anglin; sibling of the late Sylvia Nurse, Beryl Brown, Muriel Tinglin and Albert Mowatt. She migrated to the United States in 1970 and had a long career at Northshore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York as a Nursing Assistant. During her retirement she volunteered to provide respite care to families taking care of their loved ones at home. Ivy gave her life to God and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. A loving mother and friend, Ivy enjoyed spending time with her family, going to church, traveling, watching soap operas and football, dancing, cooking and taking care of family and friends. Ivy was not only a mother to her children, but many others considered her their mom as she cared for them as if they were her children. Life is not about you, it’s about what you do for others. Ivy demonstrated this throughout her entire life, and she touched the lives of many. Ivy is survived by her children Fay, Patrick and Aaron Jr; grandchildren Tracy, Edward, Dionne, Kali, Judah, Shalandrea, Lukah, Moon, Colton and Ariana; great grandchildren Josiah, Desmond, Judah Jr and Levi; nieces Annette, Charm, Sharon, Sybil and Micháel; nephews Audley, Micky, Ronald and William Jr and a host of other relatives and friends. “If her parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things too she will miss.” May her soul rest in peace, perfect peace.
