Obituary of Tyrone Beckett

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2 On September 14th 1971, God gave Charlene and Charles E. Beckett Sr. a baby boy who they named Tyrone Vincent Beckett. He was born in East Meadow at the Nassau County Medical Center. Tyrone grew up in a warm and safe home along with his brother Anthony. Tyrone was a school age child when Anthony was born. He was a perfect role model to Anthony, showing him how to be a responsible young man. Tyrone attended the Freeport Schools where he obtained his high school diploma in 1989. After his graduation he joined the United States Navy. He served in the USS Camden Ship during Operation Dessert Storm. Tyrone belonged to the St. Marks Masonic Lodge #19 in Brentwood, New York. He surrounded himself with wonderful brothers of the lodge. He displayed the belief of Masons as “each man can make a difference in the world” and that he did. After serving his term at the United States Navy, he spent 25 years at the United States Postal Service. It was during his time at the where he was employed at the United States Postal Service he met his bride: Denise Dooray. Together they became members of Memorial Presbyterian Church and then joined in holy matrimony on August 30, 2014. They created a family which included their dog: Tika, in their home-town Bay Shore New York. Tyrone was known by many as a great big brother to Anthony, wonderful son to Charlene and Charles,a son-in-law that many would love to have, an awesome uncle to many, but above all uncle to Miceala and Maliki. He was always present at their soccer games, even paying them to score a goal. Superb brother in-law to 9 siblings, a top-notch golf player (by secretly taking lessons) where he ended up beating Reo and Hematt. But most importantly, he carried a title that he was so proud of: husband. He never allowed anyone to forget that Denise was his wife. His famous saying “that’s my wife”, “right sweety” and then smile. He loved her and was very proud to show it. Tyrone enjoyed traveling, collecting sneakers to match his outfits and he certainly would dress to impress. He was a sweet kindhearted person who love socializing with friends and family. He loved sports, especially football (the Pittsburg Steelers being his favorite), baseball and basketball. Tyrone was the glue to everyone. He created a warm and inviting environment, with his infectious smile, his loyalty, thoughtfulness, and always showing up for the people in his circle. His love for his mother was never downplayed. He treated her as a Queen. Tyrone, made himself known for his famous pepper-sauce, and let’s not forget his turkey sandwiches. He made turkey sandwiches to carry where-ever he goes, yes, even at his golf games. We would joke with him about making turkey sandwiches for Reo and Hematt then defeat them at golf in the end. Tyrone enjoyed gardening and his garden was a beauty to witness. Tyrone being unselfish as he is,he shared the reaping with everyone. But, let’s not forget about his famous BBQ, that made everyone lick their fingers and long for another invite soon. Ladies and Gentlemen, Tyrone lived his best life………..every moment he had. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Willie and Wilhelmina Samuel's and his paternal grandparents, Beatrice and Charles Beckett; his paternal great grandmother, Mary Hudgins and maternal great grandmother, Alberta M. Spencer. On March 19th, 2020 Tyrone went home to his Father in Heaven. He leaves to cherish precious and treasured memories to his parents Charlene and Charles Jr; his brother and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. His parents, especially his mother Charlene was his biggest fan and is very proud of his achievements. Lovingly Submitted The Family
