Obituary of Willie Ricks Jr.

Willie Rick, Jr. a Florida native relocated to Brooklyn, NY. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Shirley Blondell Witherspoon. To this union of 55 years one son was born. Willie loved the Lord and grew up in a Christian home. He joined church at an early age in his native Gainesville, FL. Willie was a member of Union Baptist Church in Hempstead, NY for many years. He served on the Male Usher Board and sang with the Male Chorus until his health began to fail. Willie was employed by the New York City Department of Social Service until retirement. He enjoyed playing softball and was a Mason and Eastern Star. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his mild manner and smile. On April 10, 2020 God called His servant from labor to reward. He leaves to cherish his fond memories: his loving wife; Shirley, one son; Felten, one grandson; Eric, three granddaughters; and one great grand-daughter, one sister; Olivia and one brother; Mathis. A host of other relatives and friends. "But for a moment the trials and crosses, Weariness, troubles and tears, When we have passed through the valley of shadows, Then, Oh, what glory appears!"
