When I first met Sylvia, she welcomed me with open arms and treated me like a member of the family. She was sweet, caring, kind and strong and always ready with a mother's word of advice. She was the mother that I want to be, loved and cherished by her family. She will be missed. We will carry her memory in our hearts forever.

Meeting Sylvia was the best moment in my life. Moving to a town with a child an no one to help me; along came my superhero. We met 42 years ago one day in October and became best friends from that day forth. She was the Superhero that God put before me and he never let me forget that. There was nothing we did not share. We gave holiday parties together, New Year Eve, Memorial Day, Halloween and children's sleep overs. We cooked up a storm and enjoyed every minute of it. Being with her on different projects never felt like work. One day we even repaired my front steps together. We took out all the old bricks, cleaned and sanded them down and aligned them back in place with cement. From that day I never had to worry that someone could trip and fall on my steps. We ventured many projects especially with the Salvation Army which our children were members of. She was loved by all and will remain in our hearts forever. Sister Sylvia always sent you home full, content, happy and bursting with love; teaching you to carry Gods love further to others.
Sister, Charlene Washington

Aunt Sylvia has always been the best. On Christmas Eve we would listen to Uncle Boo spin some records and she would host all evening. They opened their house to all of the family and we sure do have a big family. At the end of the night she would sort through the gifts she had (I'm smiling as I write this) and she would give you the one gift you could open before Christmas. It was always personalized to the child. If she heard you liked a color, she remembered. If she heard you mention something a toy you liked, she remembered. It was an event you could look forward to every year. You just knew where you were going Christmas Eve. Even as adults many of us came back to celebrate just the same. Sure enough she hosted us just the same. You are truly missed

When my family moved to Texas Mrs. Wright always made sure to make a special trip to visit us and one just to spend time with me alone. It meant a lot to me, my family members never came to see me but she did. She became the family I needed and wanted. She became a breath of fresh air when I felt lonely and alone far from my family of origin.

I’m so sorry for your loss She was a beautiful woman with a big heart .Me and her daughter Tyana have been friends since H.S. I have so many great memories with Mrs.Wright she was like a second mom . Always made sure I had food to eat if I was there and treated me like family .When my family moved out of state she pretty much adopted me and my kids. I loved spending Easter with them she had Easter egg hunts and music and food … plenty of love to go around. Every holiday was filled with love at her home . She would call me to check on the boys even when I moved out of state . She had such a big heart . She will never be forgotten

Sylvia was a beautiful, energetic person who was always smiling. Everyone who knew her or came into contact with her will truly miss her spirit. Although Butch, Dawn, and Tyana were huge parts of her heart. Those grandchildren came along and became her entire world! I will miss seeing Sylvia at family functions, but I know that her soul is at peace, as she has taken her final rest. I pray fond memories of Sylvia will help to comfort her family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Once at Sylvia's home a lady asked me if we were Sisters I said no but if I had a Sister I would want it to be her; I can't think of a kinder, loving more welcoming person. From Christmas Eve parties to Easter Egg hunts she loved her family. She will be sorely missed. Rest in Victory, Sylvia. Chevy.

Q: What will you never forget about Sylvia?
A: Beautiful smile, Genuinely kind, Class act.
The Brown family resided next door to the Wrights and have known each other over 50 years. On today, I offer condolences, prayers, and blessings. What will I never forget about Sylvia; it starts with her beautiful smile, her taking time for a genuine conversation and always showcasing a touch of class. My earliest memories were after the birth of Teekie born with a head full of hair and Sylvia attentively caring for her. She doted over Dawn and Tyana and dressed them so fashionably.
She loved decorating the exterior of her home for everyone to participate in Easter egg hunts, Halloween and Christmas. You could always count on a gourmet chef quality meal coming out of that kitchen as she cooked enough to feed an army. Mr. and Mrs. Wright were synonymous, our example of what real love looks like and many aspire to experience. As we celebrate the Beautiful Queen Sylvia, draw off of all those beautiful moments, experiences and memories to lift your spirits as she will forever be remembered.
Love, and Blessings
