Obituary of Ina B Campbell

Born to Richard and Kathrine Campbell as one of the youngest of 12 children, in Mahoney St Andrew, Jamaica W.I. on January 17, 1936. Growing up poor with little to nothing, she always had a sense of wanting to help people in the same situation. She migrated to America where she managed to enroll in school for nursing along with working two part-time jobs, sometimes even three so that she was able to provide a better life for herself and her children as well taking care of her family back in Jamaica by continuously shipping barrels to everyone providing food, clothing, shoes and toys. Even though she left Jamaica, she still made sure family still had a roof over their heads by purchasing a house located in Duhaney Park, Kingston Jamaica and gave it to the family meanwhile providing a home for her children here in America. Her generosity did not stop there. She managed to complete nursing school and received her CNA license and landed a job at Woodmere nursing home located in Woodmere, NY just so she could be able to take care of the elderly who had little to no family and a hard time taking care of themselves. She owned what was originally a 4-bedroom house for her and her family and then decided to section off many areas by creating more rooms for more people on the outside. If you needed a place to stay, she would not turn anyone down nor would she ever judge anyone. She also took in everyone else in the neighborhoods children when they felt like they wanted to run away but really didn't cause they all knew deep down they were afraid of the streets until they would calm down and she would encourage them to go back and work it out because family is everything In the early 1990s, she laughed at Cancer in its face when was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer and not too long after beating it into remission. Even in her sickest time, she still took care of her family from her hospital bed by making sure everyone was together and safe. She stopped at nothing to provide and protect her family near and far whom she loved dearly. After beating cancer, she went on to continuously live a generous and loving lifestyle. She also had a little mean streak to her and never took any nonsense from anyone either. It did not matter who you were, if she felt disrespected and/or betrayed, she knew how to tell you where to go and what and who to do it with and then turn around a pray for you and forgive you. Yet and still, she made sure her kindness was never mistaken for a weakness. Ina ways and actions showed the definition of strong will and determination and most of all LOVE to her family and friends. She was greatly appreciated and loved by many and she will greatly be missed. She is survived by her two sisters Ann (Loise) and Petoria (Pet), her two children Barrington and Lorraine, her grandchildren Barrington Jr., Cheryse, Alicia, Anthony, Dewayne, Morgan, Catrina, Jamie-Ann, Sejonie, ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews.
