Obituary of Linda Cox-Salley
Linda Cox-Salley was born Linda Williams to the late George and Pearl Williams of Freeport, NY, by way of Summerville, South Carolina. Linda was born on July 21, 1955, in Nassau County Medical Center, formerly known as Meadowbrook Hospital, in East Meadow, New York. She is the twelfth child of this union departed this Earthly body to go home to be with our Lord, parents and four of her siblings who predeceased her in life; Anna Virginia Warren (Harold), George Williams (Carol) Loretta Williams-Wilson (Phillip) and Sabrina Willliams-James (Franklin).
Linda spent her early years in Freeport, New York. In 1957, her parents bought a home in Huntington Station. While growing up in Huntington Station, she received her early spiritual beliefs from the Evergreen Baptist Church Sunday School. Along with her other siblings, she was later baptized in Bethel A.M.E. Church Huntington. Linda attended and graduated from the South Huntington public school district.
At the age of 16 years old Linda started to work for White Oaks Rehabilitation and Nursing Center formerly known as Woodbury Nursing home, in Woodbury, NY where she worked for 50+ years and retired. Linda also worked for Cold Spring Hills Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation (formerly known United Presbyterian Nursing home in Woodbury, NY for 40+ years and retired. During this time, she met and fell in love with her husband, Kevin Salley. This union was joined on July 18, 2019. As a couple, they enjoyed working with each other and traveling the world. Wherever they went they made immediate life-long friendships. Including her best friends Karen Toomer, and Fritz Theophile.
As much as she loved to work, she also loved her family. Darren Cox her son and Theresa Cox (Quayson) her daughter and her three grandchildren Darius, Isaiah and Aryana.
Linda leaves to mourn her passing: sisters; Lucille Jones, Alma Vailes, Marie Evans, Dorothy Spicer, (Ulysses), Dearl Topping, (Jimmy), Carol McKay, (Charles), Christine Lewis, and Harolyn Harris (Gary). She is survived by James Michael, Mary, Deniece and Leon who predeceased her in life, a host of nieces and nephews, and friends. Devin and Danielle Salley
Linda was a light in a dark room wherever she went. A laughter and a smile that will never be forgotten. Her memory will live on through her family and the many lives she touched.
