Born on May 21, 1987, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bethpage, NY, Becky embraced every moment with a fearless spirit and a deep love for exploration. Her infectious energy and genuine zest for life left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Becky was the cherished and youngest daughter of Roxanne and James Avery. From a young age, she exhibited a keen intellect and a compassionate heart. She approached life as an observer, quietly studying the world around her with a wisdom beyond her years. Her parents nurtured her curiosity and supported her adventurous spirit, fostering a love for animals and nature that stayed with her throughout her life.

Becky shared an inseparable bond with her older sister, Katrina "Trina" Smith. Their relationship was a blend of sibling rivalry and unwavering loyalty. Their sisterly love was a force to be reckoned with, a testament to the deep bond they shared. Following in Trina's footsteps to Howard University in Washington D.C., Becky forged her own path with determination and grace, blossoming into the outgoing and exuberant woman, aunt, professional, and friend we knew her to be. 

A true New Yorker at heart, Becky's magnetic personality drew people to her effortlessly. From her days at Howard University to her travels around the globe, she collected friends like treasures, cultivating each relationship with genuine care and acceptance. Becky's circle of friends spanned decades and continents, a beautiful reflection of her ability to connect deeply and authentically with others.

To her colleagues, she was more than just a coworker; she became a cherished member of their extended family. Starting in the merchandising and marketing industry right after college, Becky’s dedication and talent saw her rise to the position of Global Marketing Director. When it was time for her to exit her job, the staff support was unmatched doing everything they could to lift the entire Avery family in their time of need, due to how much Becky personally affected their lives beyond the boardroom.

Becky's legacy transcends her adventurous spirit and joyous laughter. Her commitment to living life fully, despite its challenges, inspires all who knew her. Becky's love for travel took her to distant lands, creating memories that she generously shared with her loved ones. Her passion for exploration mirrored her approach to relationships—full of warmth, loyalty, and a genuine desire to connect.

Rebecca "Becky" Avery passed away peacefully on the morning of July 8, 2024, at the age of 37, surrounded by her loving family. She battled small cell cervical cancer with unparalleled strength, and her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to call her friend, sister, daughter, and confidante. Becky is survived by her parents, Roxanne and James Avery; sister and brother-in-law, Katrina and Dave Smith; nieces Kennedy (14) and Kourtney (9) Smith; a host of Nashville and Washington D.C. cousins, nephews, aunts and uncles; and a myriad of extended and chosen family.

Becky's spirit now journeys to a place beyond pain, where her laughter echoes in the memories of all who were touched by her remarkable life.
